Xamarin: Build Android & iOS App with C#

With Xamarin.Forms, you can write your application code once, and then build a native application that utilizes that code to run on almost any iOS, Android or Windows device including Windows 10. Your business logic can be written in C# (or any other .NET capable language) and your UI can either be defined in code, or in the XAML markup language.

This session is intended to introduce programmers to Xamarin & Xamarin.Forms framework. Xamarin.Forms let you build mobile applications using C# and then run them on the most popular mobile platforms today.

TRAINER:

Frankie Foo is a Penang-based software engineer and previously work for Aemulus Corp & Intel Corp. He started developing software professionally and in his free time using Microsoft stack since his stint as a Microsoft Student Partners in university 10 years ago. He enjoys the thrill of learning new technologies, reading, and soccer in his own time.

He’s currently working as freelance software developer for more than 7 years until today.


PREREQUISITES:

Basic understanding of object-oriented programming concept. Best if have prior experience in C# or XAML or mobile app development.


THINGS YOU HAVE TO PREPARE BEFOREHAND:

Windows dev machine
Able to develop Android, iOS (requires Mac) & UWP (requires Windows 10)
IDE

Android emulator
Mac dev machine
Able to develop iOS, Android application
IDEAndroid emulatorMobile device is optional (as most of the courses is conducted with emulator)

  • What is Xamarin and how does it work?

  • What is Xamarin.Forms?

  • How to build pages to collect and display data

  • Common controls used to create a UI

  • Layout principles

  • How to identify and interact with the native platform
